If leukocytes (white blood cells) are found during a urine test, further investigation is required to ascertain your true health status. Using a urine test is a quick and inexpensive way to check for leukocytes in your urine, and is one of our test kit products that can be done in the privacy of your home.

The chromogenic substrate contained in the test is split by granulocytic esterase.
This reaction releases an indoxyl which reacts with diazonium salt to form a pink-purple color on the test patch.
The intensity of the color that forms is proportional to the number of leukocytes present in the urine sample.
The result should be read within 60 - 120 seconds to allow the color to develop completely.
Low specific gravity, oxalic acid or traces of oxidizing agents may cause false positives.
Sensitivity decreases when urine contains > 160 mmol/l (>2900 mg/dl) glucose, high concentrations of albumin, specific gravity bigger or equal to 1,025 , blood, tetracycline, cephalexin or gentamicin.
Sensitivity: 10 cells/ul urine
Active reagent: chromogenic ester (0,45% w/w).
